Why We Can’t Stop Playing Wingspan (Thanks, Oceania)

We’ve played a lot of board games. Still, Wingspan keeps flying back to the table. Once you add the Wingspan: Oceania Expansion, it’s basically impossible to stop.

It’s beautiful, clever, and weirdly relaxing for a game where you’re aggressively competing over birds. The engine-building is smooth, the turns are snappy, and every combo makes you feel smarter than you probably are. Then Oceania drops nectar into the mix and suddenly everything flows faster, hits harder, and feels more flexible from turn one. No clunky starts. Just good decisions and better birds.

Also, Aussie birds. Kookaburras. Emus. Honeyeaters. It feels right. Familiar. Slightly chaotic. Exactly how we like our ecosystems.

Why do we keep playing? Because it’s easy to teach, hard to master, brilliant solo, fantastic with friends, and never gets old. One game turns into three. Every time.

If you’re searching for the best strategy board game, a top family game, or a modern classic with an Australian twist then Wingspan (especially with Oceania) is an absolute no-brainer. 🐦💚
